The Sound of Silence...
Here's the link to that article I mentioned in class about the not-so-silent mutation. New things everyday...is there anything more facinating than biology? (that's a rhetorical question by the way)
Possibly the best article yet. I really enjoyed the comment on the end. A little play on words. We might want to start listening a little close to silent mutations. These science writers really crack me up. That is probably one of the craziest concepts I have ever heard. The protein structure just being a little bit different. The big downside that is quite depressing is that it affects chemotherapy medicine that keeps your cells alive for another day. I wish the silent mutations could lead to a good thing, like a cure for herpes or some other provirus.
